Introduction to the “Move-Meant”

March 7, 2013

Welcome to the newly launched Pro-Motion blog. As a physical therapy clinic and a functional fitness center, we’re here to bring movement and purpose to your life through informative articles on function, health, and how to achieve a higher quality of life. Whether you’re looking to become more active, seeking to understand the complexity of the human body, or at a deeper level, searching for meaning in life, this space will explore those questions and suggest answers in great detail. We’re not here to change the way you think, but instead to help you think about the way you change.

In short, we’re starting a “Move-Meant.”

Meaning Drives Motion

We believe meaning drives motion — that your purpose is the foundational need for function. If you believe in something, you are driven to activity around those beliefs. The “Move-Meant” unfolds as a three dimensional confluence of mind, body, and spirit with motion, force, and time.

It is our desire to see our community move to its highest possible quality of life. Per the World Health Organization, quality of life has less to do with diminishing pain than it has to do with the ability to participate in life with others and to perform tasks.

Be Moved Toward a Higher Quality of Life

The Move-Meant, then, has everything to do with achieving a higher quality of life. It helps guide motion and the ability to participate, and it inspires everyone to think deeper about the meaning behind the actions they wish to perform. Motion has no meaning if purpose is not understood.

As such, this blog is created to explore the depths of motion and meaning; it exists to inspire you to “be moved.” We will examine the central factors behind the Move-Meant — mind, body, spirit, motion, force, and time. We will look at the factors of a high quality of life and consider the ways a person can move from health minus to health plus.

In this space, we will explore these ideas through compelling stories, in-depth interviews, and thought pieces.

We hope you will join the conversation and be a part of the Move-Meant!

I love Pro Motion Functional Fitness. Before coming I didn't believe I could reach my personal... health goals of being stronger, healthier and thinner. I have been at Promotion Functional Fitness I have been moving closer to those goals. I work with Erin at Pro Motion and she is a great support, motivator and wealth of knowledge when I have questions. She is very patient and keeps me focused. I love that no matter what time of day I can fit my workout in I always have access. It has been a great fit for me. It's not your typical gym and that's what I love about it.read more

I started with physical therapy on the PT side of this business about 18 months ago for about two... months with a back injury that had me nearly bedridden for several weeks. After I completed my physical therapy, I started weight training at Pro-Motion Functional Fitness with my physical therapist assistant, Jacob Garcia. To call the program Jacob has had me working on for over a year now life changing would be a huge understatement. Overall, I can't say enough good things about Jacob and all the staff and therapists I've met at Pro-Motion Physical Therapy. They are friendly, professional, know their jobs and clearly enjoy their work. Most importantly, I've seen astronomical improvement in my health and well-being and my strength.read more
